Srinagar, Jun 24 (KNO): As part of the Government of India’s flagship 4G Saturation Project, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Kashmir is making progress in extending digital connectivity to some of the valley’s most remote regions, including the border areas of Gurez and Tulail Valley in Bandipora district. General Manager BSNL Kashmir, Arvind Pandey, on Tuesday spoke of conducting a detailed inspection visit to isolated locations to assess the on-ground execution of the ambitious project in the earlier week. “During the visit, I reviewed site installations, infrastructure readiness, and held interactions with BSNL field teams, vendor representatives, and members of the local community in these isolated locations,” Pandey told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He said the 4G Saturation Project is a major step towards bridging the digital divide and empowering citizens with access to essential services. The General Manager expressed satisfaction over the pace of work and said the department is committed to providing quality and timely service delivery. “Two 4G sites—Khandyal and Forest Block are currently operational, with five more (BagTore, Zadgey, Purana Telail, Baglinder, and Badwan) in progress,” he said, adding that efforts are underway to address logistical and technical challenges to ensure all sites are commissioned within the scheduled timeline. Notably, the connectivity upgrade will also support the communication needs of the armed forces deployed in these challenging terrains. “During my visit, I also held discussions with the Army Brigadier of Gurez and DIG BSF Bandipora regarding the installation of 4G towers in border locations including Chaknala Bridge, Kashpar, Gujran, Chakwali, Anar, Highground, and Rajdhan Top,” Pandey added. Meanwhile, BSNL officials said the project not only enhances mobile coverage for remote villages but also strengthens national security infrastructure by providing seamless digital access to security forces stationed in these regions—(KNO)
