Kishtwar Imam Announces ‘Civil Curfew’ on Saturday | KNO

In response to the “solidarity” call given by the resistance leadership towards the Muslims of Chenab valley, Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar on Friday announced that the district will observe peaceful shutdown on Saturday – Oct15, 2016.

Dozens of people have been booked for sedition in Kishtwar following protests over Kashmir killings since July 09, 2016. Many of the detained people have been booked under notorious Public Safety Act (PSA). As per the details , Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo in his Friday sermon today asked all the Muslim bodies to observed complete shutdown tomorrow. “All the shops, business establishments, schools, educational institutions, transport including Autos buses, matadors, Tata Magics, motorcycles will follow the call,” he announced. “It is joint responsibility of whole community to follow the calls given by the Majlis-e-Shoora.” Majlis-e-Shoora is an amalgam of local Imams and traders of Kishtwar. He asked people should stay at home instead of hovering around on roads. “There should be a civil curfew like situation in the town and its adjoining areas,” he said. He also showed his concern for not allowing Friday prayers in Jamia Masjids of Kashmir valley and demanded to bring an end to such siege of Masjids where no Friday prayers were allowed by the government since July 09, 2016. Kitchloo asked people to pray for those “who scarified their lives for Kashmir cause, those who were injured in on-going Kashmir uprising and also those who are fighting for Kashmir cause”. “The movement started by the people in Kashmir is not a personal one,” he said, “the on-going struggle in Kashmir is for everyone and not for a particular region.
