At least two dozen persons were arrested by government forces in two separate crackdowns in Baramulla town Friday.
Police, army, and CRPF personnel jointly launched a crackdown in old town area of Baramulla which include Drangbal, Suhail colony and Fikerwani early morning and arrested nearly 6 persons allegedly involved in participating in protests. The crackdown concluded around 11:00 am.
This was the second such crackdown by forces in old town.
Government forces later raided Ushkara village at around 1:30 pm, few kilometres from main town Baramulla and arrested more than 15 youth.
“People were preparing for Friday prayers. Within no time police and CRPF in 10-15 vehicles raided the village and bundled youths in vehicles,” a local told Rising Kashmir.
He said government forces also fired several tear smoke shells and damaged window panes of scores of houses in the area.
