Uri, Jun 10 (KNO): CPI(M) MLA from Kugam, along with senior party leaders called on the central government to end hollow slogans and deliver immediate security measures for residents living under constant threat of cross-border shelling. Speaking with the reporters at Uri, Kulgam MLA, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), stressed that the time for hollow assurances is over, but a real help for border residents. “We will tell the government—no promises, no slogans, no talks,” he said. “The people living near the borders are living a life of misery. They don’t need speeches. They need protection, respect and swift action,” he said. The Kulgam legislator added that the security isn’t a privilege here, but a basic necessity. Referring to the destruction in border areas including Uri, Poonch and other areas, the CPI (M) leader said it is high time the government acts with compassion and responsibility. “We have come not just to share the sorrow but to raise your voice in Parliament. We will not let the suffering of border residents be reduced to mere headlines.” Notably, the delegation comprised six Members of Parliament including senior leader and former Kerala Minister M.A. Baby, Bikas Ranjan Bhattacharya from Bengal, and veteran comrade Amra Ram were on a visit to border areas. The delegation demanded that the Government of India build secure bunkers in all vulnerable areas—so that civilians can be shielded from shelling. The CPI (M) leadership reiterated its commitment to stand with the oppressed and ensure that the government is held accountable for the lives and safety of people residing along the LoC—(KNO)
