Srinagar, Jun 26 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday met the political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir, including the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss the forthcoming Amarnath Yatra, slated to commence from July 3. According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) several leaders from different political parties were invited by the Raj Bhawan to attend the All-Party Meeting to discuss the 38-day pilgrimage. The meeting started at around 5:00PM and lasted for one and a half hours. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary, National Conference Provincial President Showkat Ahmad, BJP leaders including Nirmal Singh, Kavinder Gupta, Sat Sharma, Congress leaders headed by Ghulam Ahmad Mir, PC Chairman Sajad Gani Lone, CPI (M) leader Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, Apni Party president Syed Altaf Bukhari, PDP leader Iltija Mufti, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Chairman Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen. The Lieutenant Governor briefed the participants about the arrangements made for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the yatra. Talking to KNO, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary, Ghulam Ahmad Mir said the meeting discussed arrangements that have been put in place to make yatra a grand success. “Like every year, this meeting was held today. We have pitched for the involvement of maximum civilians for this pilgrimage and also for the facilitation of both yatra and public movement simultaneously,” Mir said. CPI (M) leader and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami said that they were briefed about the arrangements made for smooth and peaceful conduct of the Amarnath yatra. “We informed the chair that the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially from the Valley have always played a key role in making the annual pilgrimage successful. Amarnath Yatra is the legacy for people, who have stood for the wellbeing and safety of the yatris every time,” he told KNO, adding that the people are yet again ready to welcome the yatris with open arms. Similarly, another senior politician Hakeem Yaseen stated that the participants highlighted traditions of Kashmir. “The people will leave no stone unturned to make this year’s pilgrimage successful and memorable for the pilgrims,” he added. Earlier in the day, the Lieutenant Governor while addressing the media persons said that the administration is fully prepared to ensure the safety of pilgrims, logistics, healthcare, and environmental management—(KNO)
