Jammu, 14 March (KNO) : Rehdi-Fadi workers Union, Jammu held a Demonstration under the banner of Centre Of IndianTrade Unions[CITU] to protest against the draconian move of the Traffic Police for banning them from installing their Rehdi-FadisIn the city, to earn daily livings.

The protest started from Greenbelt Park Gandhi Nagar, passing throughstreets, shouting anti-administration slogans and hand over memorandum to Divisional Commissioner Jammu urging him to allow them to operate their Rehdi-Fadis to earn livings. Addressing the protesting workers, Om Parkash Gen. Secretary CITU, condemned the moverendering hundreds of these poor daily earnersjobless.

It is surprising that on the one hand, government is not in a position to provide job avenues for the lakhs of unemployed youth in the state and on the other hand, when these unemployed youth are earning minimum daily income by way of installing Rehdi-Fadis, the government agencies particularly the Traffic police has created havoc by forcibly evicting them from Jammu City, thus depriving these poor vendors to feed their families.

Sham Prasad Kesar senior leader CITU in his address said thatgovernment needsto become facilitator in allowing its vast poor population to earn their livelihood by starting their small ventures, but it looks extremely strange that one of its premier agencies has rendered them jobless and government seems to be a silent spectator.

The senior leaders Ramesh Bhat, Jagdish Raj Sharma, Jia LalParihar, V.K. Vaid and Romesh Chand demanded early restoration of their earnings by allowing installing / operating their Rehdi-Fadis so that this marginalized section of the society is able to earn smooth and dignified livings.(KNO)
