Anti-drug coordination meeting held in Srinagar | KNO

Srinagar, Sep 08 (KNO): A UT-level meeting of enforcement agencies on narcotics control in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh was held in Srinagar on Monday to strengthen coordination and curb drug trafficking. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the 2nd UT-level Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting on narcotics control for the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh was held at the Police Control Room, Srinagar, under the chairpersonship of DDG (NWR), NCB, and IG Crime/ANTF Head of J&K Police. He said senior officers from various enforcement and stakeholder agencies, including ED, BSF, State Drug Controller, IB, Customs, DRI, Income Tax and NIA, along with District SSPs from Jammu, Srinagar and Ganderbal, participated in the meeting. The spokesperson said the participating agencies shared their experiences and enforcement initiatives and deliberated upon emerging trends in drug trafficking, inter-State linkages, illicit cultivation, information sharing, joint investigation, financial investigation and effective prosecution. “Discussion was also held on making sincere efforts for implementation of the ‘Vision Document on Drug Control (2026-2029)’ by the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah in the 10th apex-level meeting of the Narco-Coordination Centre (NCORD) in New Delhi on June 26, 2026. It was highlighted that the emphasis shall be on a network-centric approach to combat the drug menace,” he said. Further, stress was laid on the need for strengthened inter-agency coordination, joint interrogation, effective financial investigation and greater utilisation of available information-sharing mechanisms. The spokesperson said the meeting concluded with a call for sustained cooperation among all stakeholder agencies and adoption of a Whole-of-Government approach to detect, disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking networks in J&K and Ladakh—(KNO)
