Army fires gunshots in air after scuffle with locals | KNO

Kupwara, April 20 (KNO) : Army on Saturday fired some gunshots in air after scuffle with locals following thrashing of former market president during convoy movement at Trehgam Kupwara in northern Kashmir. Reports reaching KNO said that, local Army unit had laid their men for smooth convoy movement in the area but one of Army asked former Market president to move aside and hit him with a cane leading to intense scuffle between Army men and locals there who later took hold of each others collars. In the meantime, other Army men on duty rushed to the scene to pacify the instance scuffle between Army men and former Market President Trehgam Mohammad Aslam Sheikh along other locals. A swelled crowd assembled there arguing with Army for their action, Army men later fired few shots gunshots in air to disappear them, reports said. Aslam according to locals was driving in between the convoy during which army men argued with him and hit with a cane when he was asked to stay asked and give convoy a space for smooth movement. However there were no reports of any injury from the spot. While as witnesses said that, dozens of people assembled at the scene of scuffle and started to rise anti Indian slogans. None of the officials from police responded to any phone call verifying details about the incident. Police has also reached the spot and have taken consign of the incident.(KNO)
