Shopian, May 27 (KNO): As the primary contacts of Covid-19 positive patient from Chitragam area of Shopian district have been tested negative, the local residents and the administration has heaved a sigh of relief. Locals as well as the officials feared that the positive patient from the village could prove to be super spreader of virus as he had visited several places after his samples were taken. The 50-year-old male from Chitragam Kalan was tested positive on Monday at CD hospital almost 7 days after his samples were taken randomly. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that his samples were taken randomly at GMC Anantnag where he was visiting for dialysis as he is a kidney patient. “Soon after taking his samples were taken he was asked to be in home quarantine till reports of his samples will come,” they said adding that however, he has not adhered to the protocol and had visited many places after his samples were taken. A local said that he was praying in mosque along with others five times a day besides that he offered Eid prayers with hundreds of people. “Soon after his tests came positive, district administration started to trace his contacts on war footing basis. Administration collected samples at doorsteps given the number of contacts as it was not possible to quarantine all of them,” said an official. He said after the samples of his primary contacts were tested negative, locals as well as administration heaved a sigh of relief. “More many samples were taken from the area, whose reports are yet to come and we hope they too will turn negative,” the official said. Pertinently, Shopian has so far recorded 129 positive cases among them 107 have recovered and 22 are active—(KNO)
