Experts urge integration of research to address climate, health crisis

Sopore, Nov 13 (KNO): The two-day national conference on Frontiers in Basic Sciences: Advancing Climate Resilience, Drug Discovery and Epigenetic Medicine concluded on Thursday at Government Degree College for Women, Sopore, with experts stressing stronger research collaboration and innovation to tackle global challenges in climate science and health. The event, held from November 12 to 13, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) brought together leading scientists, academicians and students from across India and abroad. The sessions focused on emerging research in climate resilience, biomedical sciences and epigenetic medicine, highlighting the growing importance of interdisciplinary approaches in addressing sustainability and public health concerns. Across six technical sessions, researchers from the University of New Mexico (USA), IITs, CSIR laboratories and several state and central universities presented their studies. Discussions centered on integrating scientific research with practical applications to build climate-resilient systems and promote advancements in drug discovery and molecular medicine. During the inaugural session, MLA Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar served as the chief guest. The valedictory session, attended by dignitaries from academia, featured a detailed report by Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Tantary. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Dar. The conference ended with a collective call to enhance research networks, encourage student participation in scientific inquiry and strengthen institutional partnerships to advance climate resilience, sustainable health and innovation-driven medicine—(KNO)
