Preparations underway for Independence Day celebrations at Bakshi Stadium; LG Sinha, CM Omar likely to participate in ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally on Aug 12

Srinagar, Aug 10 (KNO): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Monday invited people, particularly children and youth, to participate in Independence Day celebrations and other national-level events in large numbers. Speaking to reporters at SKICC, Div Com Garg, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said preparations for the UT-level August 15 function at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar are underway. “Like every year, the UT-level August 15 event is being organised in Srinagar at Bakshi Stadium. Various arrangements are underway, including parade contingents, the cultural programme for the day and illumination of buildings in the tricolour theme,” he said. He said preparatory meetings, including with security agencies, have already been held and security arrangements are also being put in place. “Rehearsals involving our children and contingents of the forces are also taking place at Bakshi Stadium,” he said. The Divisional Commissioner appealed to people to participate in the August 15 programme, especially urging children and youth to attend in large numbers. He said a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ event will also be held on August 12, in which Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah are expected to participate. He said the colourful tricolour-themed rally would begin at 7 am from SKICC and proceed towards the Botanical Garden. “The Divisional Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Culture, is making necessary arrangements for the rally,” he said. “All people, especially youth, are invited to attend the national-level events and participate in large numbers,” Garg said—(KNO)
