Jammu, Feb 04 (KNO): Accusing the Speaker of bias in allocating time to MLAs, all the legislators of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday staged a walkout from the House. During discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the LG’s address, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer(KNO), the BJP MLAs questioned the time given to NC’s Sajad Shaheen, who was speaking at that time. The BJP MLAs accused the Speaker of bias and alleged that he was giving more to MLAs of the ruling party and ignoring the opposition. The Speaker denied the charges of the principal opposition party, saying that he was running the House as per established convention and procedures. He tried to pacify the agitating lawmakers but they didn’t relent and staged a walkout from the House. Later, the BJP legislators staged a dharna outside House, accusing the Speaker of the bias. Talking to reporters, Leader of Opposition Sunil Kumar Sharma said the Speaker was muzzling the voice of the opposition and showing bias. “The Speaker is protecting the government from answering questions. He is suppressing the opposition’s voice,” Sharma told reporters. Sharma alleged that opposition legislators were not allowed to effectively participate in the discussion—(KNO)
