Sopore, May 05 (KNO): Drivers in Sopore on Tuesday carried out repairs on a damaged stretch of the Sopore Kupwara road near Model Town, turning to self-help to keep traffic moving.
Drivers of e-rickshaws and eco vehicles told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that repeated appeals to authorities brought no response. They said the road had turned hazardous, with deep potholes posing risks to commuters and damaging vehicles.
“It has become an accident-prone spot. Our vehicles suffer daily damage,” said one of the drivers present at the site.
The drivers, who were seen carrying construction material and filling damaged portions of the road, said the stretch falls under the responsibility of the administration, but no repair work was initiated. “We waited for action, but nothing happened. That is why we took it into our own hands,” another driver said.
Locals said the stretch is a vital link for daily commuters and transporters and demanded immediate intervention from the authorities for proper repairs—(KNO)
