Srinagar, Aug 31 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience generally hot and humid weather on September 1, with light to moderate rain and thundershowers expected at many places, the Meteorological Centre Srinagar said on Monday.
The weather office, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said brief spells of intense heavy showers are likely, particularly in the Jammu division during the early morning and late afternoon or evening hours.
It advised people to remain cautious as brief intense showers at localised places may trigger flash floods, mudslides and landslides during August 31 and September 1-2.
According to the weather data issued by the Meteorological Centre, Srinagar recorded a maximum temperature of 28.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 16 degrees Celsius during the past 24 hours.
Qazigund recorded a maximum of 27.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 18 degrees, while Pahalgam recorded 24.3 degrees and 11.8 degrees, respectively.
Kupwara recorded a maximum temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 16.7 degrees, while Kokernag recorded 26.8 degrees and 14.3 degrees.
Gulmarg recorded a maximum of 19.9 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 12.5 degrees, the lowest maximum temperature among the main weather stations in the Kashmir division.
In Jammu division, Jammu recorded a maximum temperature of 33.4 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25.4 degrees.
Banihal recorded 28.5 degrees and 15.9 degrees, while Batote recorded 26.4 degrees and 19.9 degrees, respectively.
Katra recorded a maximum of 30.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23.4 degrees, while Bhaderwah recorded 29 degrees and 18.6 degrees.
The highest rainfall during the past 24 hours was recorded at Rajouri (ARG), which received 16.5 mm of rain.
For September 2 to 10, the Meteorological Centre has forecast generally dry weather, with brief spells of rain and thundershowers at isolated to scattered places, mainly during the early morning and afternoon hours.
