Srinagar, Dec 18 (KNO): The Government of India informed the Lok Sabha on Thursday that Jammu and Kashmir has an LPG bottling capacity of 185 Thousand Metric Tonnes Per Annum (TMTPA). In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, the Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri has said to a news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the LPG bottling capacity in Jammu and Kashmir includes 65 TMTPA of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and 120 TMTPA of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL). It also added that the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has no bottling plant capacity in the Union Territory. The Minister said that there is adequate LPG bottling capacity available across the country and that most bottling plants of Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies operate in single or double shifts, with scope for further enhancement by increasing shifts as per requirement. To strengthen supply infrastructure, Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies have commissioned several new LPG bottling plants nationwide in the last decade. Besides that government is reviewing to augment more LPG storage and distribution capacity to ensure an uninterrupted supply. The Centre maintained that assessment of additional infrastructure and expansion of LPG facilities, including storage and bottling capacity, is a continuous process and is undertaken based on technical and commercial feasibility to meet consumer demand, including in Jammu and Kashmir—(KNO)
