Handwara, Sep 01 (KNO): Cabinet Minister Javed Ahmed Dar on Tuesday hit out at opposition parties, saying they have no agenda beyond criticising the National Conference (NC) government but will not succeed in weakening the party.
Talking to reporters in Handwara, Minister Dar, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said opposition parties would continue attempts over the next three years to weaken the NC, but would not succeed.
“Opposition parties will try to weaken a strong tree, but they won’t succeed because the National Conference is the strongest party," he said.
On complaints about the sale of sub-standard pesticides and fertilisers, the minister said the government was taking the matter seriously.
He said enforcement teams had been directed to establish checking points and conduct inspections at entry and exit points to prevent the movement and sale of sub-standard agricultural inputs.
The minister urged people to report cases involving the sale of sub-standard fertilisers and pesticides, assuring that strict action would follow against those found violating the norms.
“We are acting on the information. I urge people to report those selling sub-standard fertilisers and pesticides, and we will act tough,” he said.
Asked about NC MP from Srinagar, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, the minister declined to comment.
“We have time and again commented on it. I won’t repeat now. Talk about something else,” he said—(KNO)
