Srinagar, May 13 (KNO): The Meteorological Department on Wednesday forecast light rain, thundershowers and gusty winds at scattered places across Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days.
The MeT Department, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), advised people to avoid boating and shikara rides during afternoon hours due to the possibility of strong winds and lightning.
According to the MeT Srinagar on Wednesday recorded a maximum temperature of 22.5 Degrees Celsius, 1.8 notches below normal, while the minimum temperature settled at 10.2 Degrees Celsius.
Qazigund recorded a high of 22.4 Degrees Celsius, Pahalgam 17 Degrees Celsius and Gulmarg 13.4 Degrees Celsius.
In the Jammu division, Jammu city recorded a maximum temperature of 34.7 degrees Celsius, while Katra registered 31.4 Degrees Celsius and Banihal 20.6 Degrees Celsius.
The MeT office said Jammu and Kashmir is likely to witness partly cloudy weather with spells of light rain and thundershowers at scattered to many places on May 14, accompanied by thunder and gusty winds at a few places during afternoon hours, while light rain and thundershowers are likely at scattered places between May 15 and 16.
The weather department has also warned of the possibility of thunder, lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph at a few places in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions.
“People are advised to suspend boating and shikara riding generally towards afternoon and late afternoon hours,” the advisory said.
