Srinagar, May 16 (KNO): The 1856 MW Sawalkote Hydroelectric Project (HEP) of NHPC on Saturday launched the ‘Swachhta Pakhwada-2026’ campaign with a mass cleanliness drive at its project headquarters in Tanger area of Ramban district.
Led by Head of Project Shri Dinabandhu Boral, employees and staff members participated in the drive, cleaning the project premises and surrounding areas as part of the 16-day nationwide cleanliness campaign under the Union Ministry of Power.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), employees and workers, armed with brooms and dustbins, carried out a cleanliness drive to clear litter and debris from in and around the project premises.
“The great Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of our Nation, believed that there is no freedom greater than cleanliness and hygiene. In consonance with this spirit, the ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’ awakens within all of us a deep sense of responsibility towards keeping our environment and surroundings clean,” Boral said.
The statement said the drive marked the beginning of a 16-day campaign being observed by the Union Ministry of Power and other ministries as part of a nationwide cleanliness initiative.
It added that the project headquarters were decorated with Swachhta banners and flowers, while employees ensured clean surroundings and muck-free drainages across the premises.
“We all should contribute towards ensuring cleanliness—at the workplace, at home and everywhere. Even small contributions matter, and through them, our nation can set an example for the world in terms of cleanliness,” Boral said—(KNO)
