ADM Sgr asks DPS principal to clear his position for disallowing students from attending online classes | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 26 (KNO): The Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Srinagar on Friday said that the administration of Delhi Public School (DPS) Athwajan has allegedly violated the Right to Education (RTE) policy by barring its students from attending online classes. The news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) has learnt that the ADM Srinagar has ordered an enquiry regarding the barring of class 2nd students from online classes. In this regard, the ADM summoned principal of Delhi Public School (DPS) Athwajan Srinagar for barring one of its student from attending online because of pending utility and transport charges of closed months. “It has been brought to the notice of district administration through media outlets and national newspapers that the Class 2nd student of Delhi Public School Srinagar has been barred to attend the online classes over pending utility and transport charges pertaining to the lockdown,” reads the ADM’s order. It further reads that the guardian of the child has alleged that the transport charges during the curfew and lockdown period is not supposed to be paid, however the monthly tuition fee and other charges have been paid as per the fee structure. He said that the alleged action of the DPS Srinagar has violated provisions of Right to Education Act, 2009 and keeping in view the issue, Principal of the schools is directed to appear in the Court of Additional District Magistrate on Saturday at 10:30 AM to clear his position failing which action as warranted under norms shall be initiated against him. The ADM also ordered the DPS management to allow the student to attend the online classes’ forthwith.—(KNO)
