Budgam, Jan 19 (KNO): The residents of Khan-Mohalla and Malik-Mohalla in Dadina area of central Kashmir's Budgam district on Tuesday staged a protest against the PHE department for failing to provide drinking water.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News observer (KNO), the residents on Tuesday morning blocked Budgam - Shoolipora road and staged a strong protest against the PHE department Budgam.
The protesters told KNO that they are facing several problems due to the immense shortage of drinking water.
"We have approached many times to the concerned department but nothing was done," they said.
Locals however alleged that during the protest three employees of PHE posted at Dadina threatened to file an FIR against the five men.
"When we were protesting, three employees came and told us that they will file an FIR against five men of ours for stealing the pipes of the PHE department. We have not committed any theft. They actually want us not to protest here and call the media," Showkat Ali, a protester said.
However when KNO contacts Exn PHE Budgam Gurmeet Singh, said that he received the complaint from the village.
"I have contacted the concerned JE to send them the pipes which are needed. Water supply will be provided till evening," Singh said.
Singh, however, said that he has no information about the threats by PHE employees—(KNO)
