DLSA and TLSC organised awareness Prog on Constitutional rights to tribal people in Bhaderwah | KNO

BHADERWAH,AUG 09 (KNO) : District Legal Services Authority Doda in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committee Bhaderwah organised awareness camp on the topic " Backward / Tribal areas on protection of Enforcement of Tribal Rights " in the premises of Athkar Public School Sartingal Bhaderwah here today .

Secretary District Legal Services Authority Mudasir Farooq Munsiff Judge Bhaderwah was chief guest on the occasion where as Advocate Fareed Beg , Advocate Bhawan Sharma , Advocate Majid Malik , Principal Athkar Public School Sudesh Manhas , Sarpanch Sartingal Ashraf Butt and large number of villagers were also present on the occasion . Speaking on the occasion Munsiff Judge Bhaderwah said tribes are the inhabitants of forests since pre history and even in this modern world this trend is followed by many people.Tribes constitute around 9.6 percent of the total Indian population, and of the total tribal population around 80 percent are found in Central India.

He said Constitution of India has provided special provisions to the tribal people to safeguard their interests and also said Article 15 of the Indian Constitution states that the state shall not discriminate any citizen on grounds of religion, race, caste, sex, place of birth or any of them.

]This explains that every citizen of India is provided equal rights and opportunities without any discrimination.He also said government of India has made reservation for the tribes in employment under Article 16(4) of the Constitution of India.The Government of India has reserved seats in The House of People (Lok Sabha) and The State Legislative Assemblies under Article 330 and 332 of The Constitution of India, he added and said Article 19(5) of the Constitution of India guarantees the tribal people right to own property and enjoy it in any part of the country.Article 338 of The Constitution of India grants the right to appoint a Commissioner to look after welfare activities of tribes.Advocate Bhawan Sharma and Adv Majid Malik said Article 46 of the Constitution of India states that,

The State shall promote with special care the educational and economic interests of the weaker sections of the people and in particular, the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes, and shall protect them from social injustice and all forms of exploitation. Under Article 275(i) of the Constitution of India the Centre Government is required to give grants-in-aid to the State Government for approved Tribal Welfare Schemes, they said .
