Srinagar, January 09 (KNO) : Accusing Deputy Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Sheikh Imran of being a ‘Congress’s puppet’, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday asked him to concentrate on his ‘mandate' and refrain from poking nose in 'grand politics'. BJP state spokesman Altaf Thakur made these comments in a presser here. "Imran should focus on his mandate of taking care of people's needs. Lanes, bylanes of Srinagar are still snow clogged and he is involving himself in international politics,” Thakur said. Criticising Imran of parroting Congress's views Thakur said that BJP is not a sectarian party. "He is continuously calling BJP a sectarian party. Is working for Sab ka sath sab ka vikas sectarian. If yes then we are proud sectarian's," Thakur said, according to KNO correspondent. "There is a coterie working around him day in and day out against BJP," he accused. He further said the BJP had backed SMC mayor Junaid Azim Matoo for mayorship and if he too doesn’t stop from mud slugging then BJP will have to 're-think'. "Mayor and deputy Mayor should stop this infighting. SMC workers are on strike. They should do the job they are meant for, " he said. On allegation levelled by a corporate against Mattu that he had assaulted her, he said that its a matter between them. "They have been elected to serve people. They should do that only,” he said.(KNO)
