Srinagar, Apr 02 (KNO): The J&K Academy Employees Union on Thursday congratulated Birjees Akhtar on her landmark appointment as the first female President of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL). In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson of the Union said, “This historic elevation marks a new chapter for the Academy, reflecting confidence in her leadership, vision and commitment to advancing employee welfare, addressing long-standing issues and promoting progress, inclusivity and excellence across the institution.” The spokesperson said it’s for the first time any woman has been entrusted with the prestigious responsibility of leading this esteemed institution. “Her appointment reflects the confidence reposed in her vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment towards the welfare, benefits and long pending issues of the employees,” he added. “The employees are confident that under her able stewardship, the Academy will witness new heights of progress, inclusivity, and excellence. The employees also look forward with renewed hope towards the welfare of employees and the resolution of their long-pending genuine issues, service matters, and legitimate benefits, which remain essential for the strength and morale of the institution,” said the spokesperson. He said, it is also noteworthy that the charge of General Secretary continues to remain with Birjees Akhtar till further orders, ensuring continuity in Union Administration and the smooth functioning of the Academy Union during this important transition phase. “Her elevation as the first lady President has infused fresh confidence among employees who view this as the beginning of a progressive, compassionate, and people-centric era for the Academy On behalf of the J&K Academy Employees Union, we assure our full cooperation and unwavering support in all initiatives aimed at institutional growth and employees welfare.” The spokesperson said, “We remain hopeful that under her visionary leadership, the Academy will continue to flourish while simultaneously addressing the aspirations and welfare of its dedicated employees.”—(KNO)
