ondemn the harassment, thrashing, humiliating and beating the inmates at Central Jail Baramulla, appeal Hurriyat Leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani Sahib, other leaders and Human Rights Organizations to take cohesive measures, Democratic Political Movement Chairman Firdous Shah. Democratic Political Movement Chairman Firdous Shah, in his statement strongly condemning and denouncing the action of Jail authorities including Superintendent of Jail, SSP concerned, SP concerned, SHO Police Station concerned while beating mercilessly the jail inmates when they approached Jail Superintendent to provide medical facility to the detenue who is serious ill and suffering from various ailments and also shifted him to hospital for treatment, but Jail Superintendent in-turn refused to provide the same. In this regard the inmates protesting peacefully against the illegal action adopted by jail authorities and other police officials, they (authorities) thrashing, humiliating, harassing and mercilessly beaten the jail inmates in the compound of jail and fired teargas shells, some fire in air and also burn down their mattresses and other articles which were using by inmates. Shah said that the police authorities have beaten the hundreds of inmate’s especially pro-freedom detenues including Mehraj-ud-din Nanda, Nisar Ahmad Dar, Bashir Ahmad Changal, Faisal Aslam, Ghulam Mustafa Wani, Mohammad Younis Khanday, Latief Ahmad Kalloo, Wali Mohammad Lone, Umer Ashraf, Abdul Wadood, Ashiq Hussain Mir, and Adil Ahmad Sofi, the have suffered grievous injuries and have not provided any medical facilities till date nor any doctor will be allowed to treat them. The health condition of pro-freedom detenues are in danger at Central Jail Baramulla at the hands of jail authorities and the police concerned have taken law into their own hands. The detenues are protesting against the said act and are on hunger strike for last four days, the jail authorities every day and night beaten them mercilessly and told them that they are in process to kill them in fake encounter as they have received the orders from the higher ups. As per information the relatives of inmates who are waiting outside the jail premises are also beaten by authorities. Shah appeal Hurriyat Leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani Sahib, other leaders and Human Rights Organizations to take cohesive measures for the protection of inmates who are in illegal custody in J&K State and Central Jail Baramulla, as the life of inmates in Baramulla Central Jail is on threat at the hands of Indian authorities.
