SRINAGAR February 10 (KNO) : Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Geelani on Saturday paid glorious tributes to Shaheed Maqbool Bhat on his 34th martyrdom anniversary and said we are duty bound to safeguard these sacrifices. While reiterating his demand for the return of the mortal remains of Shaheed Mohammad Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru, he said that although it is purely a human issue, instead India refused to return their mortal remains. Pro-freedom Leader while ridiculing Indian authorities for their reluctance, said no country other than India set this wrong precedence and in this way its claim of a largest democracy in the world is getting badly exposed. Reiterating joint leadership’s call for complete and state-wide shut down on 11th February, Syed Ali Geelani said that nations never forget their heroes. They are source of inspiration for us & the best way of paying tributes to them is that the nation should not forget these brave sons of the soil, who had sacrificed their “present” for the “future” of the nation. We have presented unparalleled sacrifice and now it is very imperative and obligatory to safeguard them, said Geelani. We need to check loopholes & control our feeble points as all these weaknesses harm cherished mission of our martyrs, he said. Syed Ali Geelani called nation to exhibit steadfastness and unanimity, and keep aloof from India and its local stooges. Don’t support them as all these activities prove detrimental for our freedom movement, added he. Meanwhile on the directions of Syed Ali Geelani a deputation comprising of Mohammad Rafiq Owasi, Mukhtar Ahmad and Rameez Raja visited residence of Shaheed Mohammad Afzal Guru and presented Tafheem-ul-Quran to his son Galib Guru and expressed their sympathy and solidarity. The deputation also visited incarcerated activist in Tihar jail Ahtisham Farooq and expressed their condolences over the demise of his grandmother. The deputation prayed for the departed soul and for the strength to grieved family.(KNO)
