Srinagar. May 4 (KNO) : Peoples' Democratic Party’s Srinagar District president and Upper house member Mohammad Khurshid Alam on Friday appealed the state government to take immediate measures for the waiving off of the form fee taken from the job aspirants from government recruitment agencies in the state.

In a statement issued to press, Alam said that the job seekers have been facing tough time due to the system kept in vogue by the JKSRB and various other recruitment agencies under which the aspirants are asked to pay Rs 300 to Rs 500 per job application. “This is being viewed as an unnatural measure being taken by these agencies as the job seeker already bearing the brunt of unemployment and uncertainty has to pay such a huge sum only to appear in an interview. It is a high time that such a policy is revoked so that a sigh of relief is provided to the already perturbed unemployed youth of the state,” Alam said in a statement.

The PDP leader said that as per the figures of the year 2014, the recruitment boards had earned a whooping Rs 20 crore from job aspirants. Alam said that the latest data reveals SSRB has earned Rs 72.76 crore as fees from the job seekers, followed by PSC which has pocketed Rs 6.78 crore, while PRA has collected Rs 3.62 crore. The PDP leader stated that the practise to mint money from the jobless youth has been the practise of the previous anarchic regimes and that there are high hopes from the present regime that such a system will be revoked. He added that an unemployed youth who is already striving to make both ends meet shouldn’t be burdened with such extra costs and that the government must take remedial measures to do away with such a practise.

Alam appealed the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to address the concerns of the unemployed youth who on the basis of the merit want a dignified place for themselves in government service. “It is a much known fact that the PDP has been on the forefront to address the concerns of the youth and have taken several measures which are proving imperative for the overall empowerment of the state’s younger generation. The recruitment processes have been fast tracked and new schemes are being rolled out to accord a dignified and honourable living to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir,” Alam said. Alam further appealed the government to waive off the loans of the Kashmiri artisans who have been reeling under the uncertain times and finding it earn livelihood for their families.
