Srinagar, November 06 (KNO) : Paying tributes to Jammu martyrs who were killed this day (November 6 1947), Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Tuesday said that the ethnic cleansing of the Muslims including men, women and children that took place on this day, 70 years ago, is an extremely painful chapter in the history of our freedom struggle besides an eye-opener for the entire humanity across the globe. In a statement issued to KNO, Mirwaiz said, “Exactly 70 years ago in Jammu, the gruesome murder of lakhs of members of a particular community with a sole aim of changing the demography of the region was an abhorable act and that it was done in a systematic and planned manner.”Mirwaiz termed the great sacrifices offered by the lakhs of Muslims in Jammu region as a biggest asset to the on-going movement of right to self-determination movement. He said the sacrifices rendered by the lakhs of people will be written in the J&K’s history with golden letters and these martyrs will always be remembered for their priceless sacrifice for a great and sacred cause. Mirwaiz said “the hearts of people of Kashmir and Jammu region especially Chenab and Doda valley beat in unison as our political aspirations are one, a fact which can’t be ignored.”He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are committed to their struggle for the right to self-determination for which both leadership and people of the State have offered and are offering tremendous sacrifices. Meanwhile, Mirwaiz paid tributes to the two armed youth killed at Zainapora, Shopian in an encounter with the forces, Muhammad Idress alias Chota Abrar and Amir Hussain Rather alias Abu Usman, both residents of Shopian district. He said that Kashmiri youth are spilling their hot blood on daily basis for the cause of right to self determination. “People are shouldering the coffins of their loved ones almost every day and yet people of Kashmir continued to remain steadfast towards their goal,” he said. Mirwaiz said that “people and the resistance leadership is duty bound to safeguard the mission of martyrs and it’s high time that people forge unity at all levels so that we achieve the final goal at the earliest.” Meanwhile, Hurriyat spokesman strongly condemned the fresh wave of CASOs in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district including Hajin, Sumbal and other areas and keeping the people irrespective of their age out of their homes for hours together in bone chilling cold and termed it highly inhuman and undemocratic. The spokesman said that ultimate means of repression is being unleashed across the length and breadth of Kashmir and common people are made the primary targets of the fear in a bid to crush the popular sentiment in Kashmir but the time is witness that more the repression has grown, more the resolve of people has grown stronger.(KNO)
