Over 100 vehicles seized as Traffic Police intensify crackdown in Jammu | KNO

Jammu, Aug 05 (KNO): To enhance road safety and curb violations of the Motor Vehicles Act, the Jammu Traffic Police, under the direction of the District Magistrate, Jammu, have seized over 100 modified vehicles in a special enforcement drive conducted over the past five days. The operation, targeting unauthorized vehicle modifications, aims to improve the driving environment and ensure compliance with traffic regulations across the district. Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Jammu, Farooq Qaiser, stated, “This crackdown serves as a stern reminder to all that any type of modification to vehicles is illegal as it violates the conditions of the vehicle’s registration certificate (RC) and is an offence under MV Act. We urge the public to refrain from modifying their vehicles to avoid legal penalties and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.” He said such modifications not only breach legal provisions but also pose significant road safety hazards. The special drive, conducted across various parts of Jammu city, has resulted in the seizure of 109 modified vehicles, including high-end SUVs and other models. SSP Qaiser emphasized that such enforcement efforts will continue to ensure the safety of commuters and maintain order on Jammu’s roads. The Jammu Traffic Police have also appealed to vehicle owners to comply with the Motor Vehicles Act and refrain from unauthorized modifications to avoid penalties, including fines and vehicle seizures. In addition to enforcement; the Traffic Police are urging the public to cooperate in fostering a safer driving environment.
