Srinagar, Aug 19 (KNO): Director General National Cadet Corps (NCC), Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, on Tuesday said nearly 75,000 NCC cadets across the country have actively participated in Operation Sindoor. Speaking to reporters during his visit to Baramulla, Lt Gen Singh, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), highlighted that cadets played a pivotal role in hospital management, relief distribution and civil defence activities under the operation. “About 75,000 cadets have taken part in Operation Sindoor. They have gone wherever they could contribute, in civil defence, hospitals and community management. They have truly been role models,” he said. The DG further praised the performance of the Baramulla NCC unit, which he described as having shown excellent progress in both training and service. Cadets here, he noted, were actively involved in adventure sports, firing, camps and community programmes, strengthening their presence and impact. Lt Gen Singh also acknowledged the growing demand for NCC in Kashmir, with school principals seeking more enrolment vacancies. “We will see how best we can respond to the demand,” he added.
