Srinagar, May 14 (KNO): An MLA supporting the ruling alliance has launched a scathing attack on Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, accusing him of brazenly favouring his own constituency with road projects and development funds, while blatantly discriminating against areas represented even by alliance MLAs. Speaking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, who represents the Thanamnadi assembly segment of Rajouri, alleged massive disparity in fund distribution. He claimed that projects worth Rs 30 crore have been allocated to Nowshera assembly segment under the NABARD scheme, while other constituencies in the district have received a mere Rs 4–5 crore each under the scheme. “The height of discrimination is that not a single bridge project has been allotted to our constituencies, while all have gone to the constituency represented by the Deputy CM,” Khan charged. He further alleged that tenders have already been allotted to carry out works under the Cities & Towns macadmisation plan in the Deputy CM’s segment, while projects under the same scheme in other constituencies are still awaiting approval. “We have been told to submit plans for macadamisation of just 20 kilometres in each constituency. What will we do with that? The length of each road is more than 20 kilometres in my constituency,” he alleged. Khan alleged a quid pro quo arrangement among ruling ministers, claiming they are allocating funds to each other’s constituencies while discriminating against remaining MLAs. “The ministers are focused only on their own constituencies and are hardly bothered about other segments,” he said—(KNO)
