Srinagar, Aug 17 (KNO): Many schools designated for internet facilitation centers for registration of Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) 2020-21 in Kashmir are wearing a deserted look due to the absence of staff.
The candidates are not able to submit their application forms due to the absence of the staff that is meant to be present at the designated centres. The parents of those wards applying for the PMSSS said the internet facilitation centers at designated schools are wearing a deserted look while the candidates are being compelled to wander from school to school.
One of the parents told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that he went to three schools in Pampore zone of Pulwama district and Srinagar district respectively wherein he was told that the staff was not available.
“No staff is available in these schools. I went to Government Girls Higher Secondary Pampore (GGHS), Government Boys Higher Secondary Pampore (BHSS) and Government Higher Secondary School Khonmoh to submit the form, but no staff was available there,” he said.
“Now, I submitted the form of my ward at SP College,” he added. Earlier, the government extended the last date for online registration of PMSSS till August-31 in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Following the extension of the date, the government directed the candidates to visit nearest internet facilitation and verification centre for registration and verification of the documents.
In Kashmir division, the authorities have designated 334 schools as internet facilitation and verification centres.
PMSSS has asked the designated schools to register and verify the documents; however, the schools remain closed.
Meanwhile, the concerned officials at BHSS Pampore didn’t respond to the repeated calls from KNO.
However, the officials at BHSS Khonmoh Srinagar said there were some internet issues. “We have some internet issues in the router and I am submitting the form of the students from my Smartphone,” he said—(KNO)
