Assembly adjourned indefinitely as Budget Session concludes in Jammu | KNO

Jammu, Apr 04 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was adjourned indefinitely as the Budget Session that spanned over two phases concluded here on Saturday. The session, per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), had commenced on February 2 in Jammu and continued till February 20 before the House was adjourned for the Ramadan and Eid break. Proceedings resumed on March 27, with the House taking up budget passage and legislative business before concluding on April 4. Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather said the session recorded a total of 22 sittings, adding that the House functioned for 11 hours and 36 minutes in total. He informed that eight government bills were introduced and all were passed. “A total of 25 papers were laid in the House. On private members’ business, 39 bills were received, 36 admitted, three disallowed and two were introduced,” he said. On questions, the Speaker said 1,379 were listed, of which 144 were disallowed, two withdrawn, and three not listed. He added that 110 calling attention notices were received. Regarding resolutions, 138 were received, 27 disallowed, 14 listed, and four taken up, with two discussed. He further said 2,231 cut motions were received, of which 2,059 were allowed. The Speaker thanked members for their participation and ministers for their dedication. He also appreciated the Chief Minister for his involvement and time spent in the House. He acknowledged the role of the Chief Secretary, administrative secretaries, media including Radio, Doordarshan, electronic and print, as well as the home department, police and Assembly staff for ensuring smooth conduct of proceedings—(KNO)
