Divisional Commissioner Kashmir reviews Eid-ul-Adha arrangements | KNO

Srinagar, May 07 (KNO): In preparation for the forthcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg on Thursday convened a high-level meeting to review and finalize arrangements for the smooth and peaceful observance of the festival across the Kashmir Division. During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner directed the KPDCL officers, to ensure uninterrupted power supply at prominent religious shrines including Hazratbal Shrine, Kalashpora, Jenab Sahab Soura, Ziyarat Sharief Kabamarg and Khiram in Anantnag, Ziyarat Sharief Makhama, and Aham-i-Sharief in Bandipora. He further instructed the concerned departments to maintain adequate and uninterrupted supply of potable drinking water and to address any water-related issues promptly. Emphasizing the importance of ensuring availability of essential commodities during the festive days, the Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to maintain sufficient stocks of rice, atta, sugar, and other daily essentials throughout the Valley. To meet the anticipated demand for sacrificial animals, the Director Sheep Husbandry was asked to ensure adequate availability across Kashmir Division ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. Wakf authorities were also directed to properly regulate designated sale locations for sacrificial animals to prevent traffic congestion and inconvenience to the general public. The Divisional Commissioner stressed the need for extensive market inspections to curb overpricing and prevent the sale of substandard goods. He called for close coordination among enforcement agencies to ensure fair pricing and adequate availability of essential commodities, particularly mutton and poultry. In order to maintain cleanliness and create a festive atmosphere, special sanitation drives were directed to be carried out in and around mosques, shrines, marketplaces, and residential areas. The Srinagar Municipal Corporation was instructed to deploy adequate manpower for door-to-door collection of animal hides. For smooth vehicular movement during the festival, traffic authorities were directed to implement effective traffic management plans around major mosques and marketplaces. The Divisional Commissioner also instructed the Health Department to deploy medical teams at major shrines and mosques to provide immediate healthcare assistance in view of the expected large gatherings. To ensure safety and security at congregation sites, directions were issued for deployment of fire tenders and adequate security personnel to facilitate the peaceful celebration of the festival. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and senior officers from various departments including Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry, FCS&CA, Health, KPDCL, PHE, SMC, PWD, Fire Services, ULB, Wakf Board, and Legal Metrology—(KNO)
