Srinagar (KNO) : The Early bloom of flowers on Almond trees at historic garden Badamwari which is located at downtown area of Srinagar it is linked with the lives of the people of Srinagar, especially those living in Sheri Khass. Badamwari is the only picnic spot for the peoples of Srinagar especially those living in Shehre-e-Khas.

Badamwari garden was revived by the J&K Bank and formally thrown open for public in 2008 .The city of seven bridges sustained by the river Jehlum which attracted people in spring towards Badamwari. Badamwari used to be a big almond garden situated at the foot hill of Kohi-Maran, also known as Hari Parbat. At the top of the hillock a fort was built by Atta-ullah khan.

It is a 300 kannals of garden and has plenty of trees,flowers and buses.Badamwari holds in its warm bosom the under current of our culture. It used to invite the people to feast their eyes on the irresistible charm of almond blossoms; thus for a while forgetting the hardships caused by the freezing spell of the winter from which they had come alive. Peoples are waited eagerly for the advent of spring to pay a visit to the almond garden.

Now the early bloom of flowers on Almond trees in the sprawling historic Badamwari in Down town became a source of attraction for nature lovers before the season of almond bloom on trees. Historians maintain there was no record to suggest who laid the garden but they say it existed even before the rule of Sultan Zain Abidin in the 14th century.Badamwari is heralded with Almond trees in the spring and marked the new year for kashmiris. A marvelous dome is built in the middle of the garden,in the ancient days the people of Kashmir celebrated the harvest festival in the months of spring.

The aura of thre garden has fragrant airs and beautiful white flowers. Also flocks of tourists come here to watch the splendid garden.(KNO)
