Three consecutive days, 'Er Rasheed Face NIA questions' | KNO

The Indian federal investigation agency, National Investigation Agency (NIA) is questioning the Jammu and Kashmir lawmaker, Er Rasheed for the third consecutive day at its headquarters in New Delhi.

A spokesperson of Er Rasheed informed that the questioning of Kashmir lawmaker is going on and it will continue on Thursday. “For the three consecutive days since Tuesday Rasheed sb is being questioned from 10 am till 7 pm.”

Pertinently, the NIA on May 30 had registered a case alleging that Kashmiri resistance groups receive findings. Till date it has summoned more than a dozen people including resistance leaders, activists, a photojournalist, a Kashmir University Scholar and business leaders.Besides, 7 pro-freedom leaders or activists have been detained.


It is for the first time that a lawmaker from Kashmir has been summoned by an investigation agency.


Rasheed represents the Langate constituency of Handwara district in Jammu and Kashmir Legislative assembly. He is a second time lawmaker from the constituency.


The firebrand lawmaker has been propagating the right to self determination for the resolution of Kashmir issue for a long time now. On the floor of the house in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative assembly, Rasheed has on a number of occasions demanded that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should be given a right to exercise the option of Plebiscite, guaranteed to them by the United Nations.
