Kulgam, Sep 28 (KNO): Kulgam Police on Monday conducted inspections of SIM card vendors in the jurisdictions of Police Stations Yaripora and Behibagh to check records and ensure compliance with prescribed verification and documentation procedures.
A statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), reads during the inspections, police teams checked the records maintained by SIM vendors and reviewed compliance with the guidelines prescribed for the issuance and activation of mobile connections.
The inspections were aimed at preventing fraudulent issuance and misuse of SIM cards and strengthening telecom-related security measures in the district.
The spokesperson said police directed SIM vendors to strictly adhere to the prescribed KYC norms and verification procedures while issuing SIM cards and to maintain proper records of customers and transactions.
Kulgam Police said such inspections would continue to ensure compliance with the prescribed guidelines and prevent the misuse of telecom services for unlawful activities.
Police also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or irregularity related to the sale or use of SIM cards. Kulgam Police appealed for public cooperation in keeping telecom services safe and secure—(KNO)
