Anantnag, Apr 18 (KNO): Army's Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on Saturday defused two old live mortar shells in orchards of Nowgam near 21 Field Ammunition Depot (FAD) Khundro in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that locals found two mortar shells in Nowgam orchards, creating panic. “The information was given to Army, which defused the shells safely, thereby averting a major tragedy,” the officials added.
A police official said that “the shells are old and had apparently swept down from nearby 21 FAD camps, which caught massive fire on August 11, in 2007.” Khundru is one of the biggest ammunition depots in the Valley– (KNO)
