Srinagar, Sep 17 (KNO): The Srinagar International Airport turned festive and welcoming on Wednesday as it celebrated ‘Yatri Seva Diwas’ with a host of vibrant, passenger-focused activities — from cultural folk dances and children’s competitions to wellness camps and a tree plantation drive, embodying the spirit of Kashmir’s traditional “mehmaan-nawazi” (hospitality). According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), passengers arriving were greeted with a sacred Tika ceremony, traditional folk dance performances, and heartfelt gestures from the airport staff, leaving many to describe the experience as “unforgettable.” “Landed in Srinagar and experienced the true ‘mehmaan-nawazi’ — from Tika to cultural folk dances and heartfelt care by airport staff, it was truly unforgettable,” a passenger posted, tagging Airport Authority, Chief Minister, LG Sinha and others. Yesterday, the Officiating Director of Srinagar International Airport, Anil Kumar Gupta, said the celebration was aimed at making passengers feel welcomed and valued. “Yatri Seva Diwas is about serving passengers with devotion and respect. From cultural programs to wellness camps, every activity reflects our resolve to make their journey memorable,” Gupta told KNO earlier during a press briefing. Meanwhile, as part of the day, the airport organised a ‘health check-up and blood donation camp,’ which brought passengers, staff and stakeholders together, celebrating wellness, compassion, and what officials described as “the true spirit of service.” In another initiative, airlines’ representatives, airport officials, defence personnel and passengers joined hands in a tree plantation drive, symbolising unity, harmony, and sustainability. Additionally, photo booths were also installed at key spots for travellers to capture their moments, while feedback counters were set up to collect passengers’ suggestions to improve airport services further. Officials said the smiling faces and positive feedback from passengers were the “true success” of this year’s Yatri Seva Diwas celebrations at Srinagar Airport—(KNO)
