Srinagar, Apr 21 (KNO): Assuring that all necessary security arrangements have been put in place, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Srinagar Dr G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy on Tuesday said that Jammu and Kashmir Police are fully prepared to ensure a safe, smooth and peaceful Darbar Move from Jammu to Srinagar. Speaking on the sidelines of an event held at Tagore Hall here, the SSP, as reported by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the annual Darbar Move is being meticulously planned to ensure uninterrupted and secure movement of the civil secretariat and officials. “We are preparing every year. A detailed plan has been formulated for the safe shifting of the Secretariat from Jammu to Srinagar. Adequate security arrangements will be in place, and the movement will remain peaceful and secure,” he said. The SSP added that police deployment and protection measures around key officials and convoy routes are being strengthened to ensure foolproof arrangements during the exercise. Highlighting the ongoing anti-narcotics drive in the district, Dr Chakravarthy said Srinagar Police has intensified its crackdown on drug networks under a structured campaign over the past 10 days. “In the last 10 days, Srinagar Police have registered around 15 to 20 FIRs, and several drug peddlers have been arrested. Our efforts will continue with greater intensity in the coming days,” he said. He further said the objective is not only to arrest drug peddlers but to dismantle the entire drug ecosystem, including identification and attachment of properties linked to illegal trade. “We are targeting not just individuals involved in drug trafficking but also their financial and property networks to completely disrupt the ecosystem,” he added. On the cultural event at Tagore Hall, the SSP appreciated the organisers for promoting heritage and communal harmony through the celebration of Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti, stating that such programmes strengthen social unity and connect youth with cultural roots. The SSP reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir Police will continue to support events that promote peace, culture and harmony across the region—(KNO)
