Srinagar, Jul 06 (KNO): Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq Saturday addressed the faithful at Alam Sahib Narwara on the solemn occasion of Youm-e-Ashoora. In his sermon, Mirwaiz as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) highlighted the deep Islamic significance of Youm-e-Ashoora. He also elaborated on the historic incident of Karbala and paid glorious tributes to Imam Alee Maqam Imam Hussain (RA) and his loyal companions who laid down their lives while upholding the principles of truth, justice and dignity. Mirwaiz said: “As we honour Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala, we are taught that standing for truth, justice, and dignity — even against overwhelming odds — is the highest form of faith and a timeless lesson in steadfastness. Their sacrifice will inspire generations to come.” On the occasion, Mirwaiz prayed for the oppressed people of Palestine and strongly condemned their continuous killings and the genocide on a daily basis being carried out there. He said that the entire Muslim Ummah, along with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, stand firmly with the people of Palestine in their just struggle for freedom and justice. “Palestine and Al-Aqsa are part of our faith and we will never abandon them,” Mirwaiz asserted. He added that for the Palestinians, every day is a Karbala — a struggle for truth, dignity and survival against tyranny. Special prayers were also held seeking rain, relief from the unprecedented heat wave, and an end to the prolonged dry spell affecting the Valley—(KNO)
