Srinagar, May 06 (KNO): All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said the central government should respond effectively in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed the lives of over two dozen people. “We want our government to give an effective response to it. We have said the same in the all-party meeting,” Owaisi said after arriving in Srinagar this morning. This is the first visit of AIMIM Chief to the Valley following the deadly attack in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025. Earlier, he had visited Kashmir last month to attend a marriage ceremony. Speaking to reporters, Owaisi, as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), termed the incident a ‘cowardly and barbaric attack’. “It was a cowardly attack. We have condemned it and are still condemning it. We have seen how terrorists from Pakistan killed 26 people,” Owaisi said. He said that the way people were killed by asking males about their religion was barbaric and inhumane. “Those who couldn't recite the Kalma were fired upon. This is barbaric,” he said. Owaisi said the local Kashmiris are bearing the brunt of the attack, stating that the tourism sector has taken a hit after the Pahalgam terror attack. Responding to a question about the death of 22-year-old Imtiyaz Ahmad Magray from Kulgam, Owaisi said an inquiry should be conducted to ascertain the circumstances that led to the death, stating that he has read the statements of his relatives in the media—(KNO)
