Panchayat polls: SEC unveils schedule for revision of electoral rolls | KNO

Jammu, Mar 26 (KNO): In a significant move, the State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday issued a schedule for revision of Panchayat electoral rolls in Jammu and Kashmir. Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), State Election Commissioner, Shantmanu said the Commission has issued a calendar for revision of Panchayat electoral rolls. As per calendar, a copy of which is with KNO, the publication of draft electoral roll will take place on March 27, 2026. The claims/objections for addition/deletions/corrections/transpositions can be filed between March 27 to April 29. According to the calendar, the special camps at the polling booth locations will take place on April 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25 and 26. During special camps, the Panchayat Election Booth Officials (PEBO i.e., VLW/MPW/GRS) shall remain available at polling booth locations with the requisite forms and draft electoral roll for the guidance of the electoral voters. According to calendar, the disposal of claims and objections by Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) shall take place by May 08. The revision exercise would be completed on May 15 with publication of final Panchayat electoral roll—(KNO)
