Srinagar, May 19 (KNO): A blood donation camp organised by the Mirwaiz Foundation at Ganj Baksh Park in Nowhatta Srinagar on Monday, which saw an overwhelming participation from locals, with over 150 pints of blood collected in a day. The event was held to mark the 35th martyrdom anniversary of Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq. As per the details obtained by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the camp, held in collaboration with Amandeep and Ujala Group of Hospitals, witnessed a large turnout of youth, students, and women volunteers from various parts of Srinagar. Tanveer Ahmad, a volunteer, said it is heart-warming to see young people turning up in such numbers to donate blood. “This shows that the spirit of service is alive among the youth of Kashmir,” he said. Similarly, locals also praised the effort, calling it a noble way to remember the late Mirwaiz. “Such initiatives reflect the values of compassion and public service that Mirwaiz stood for,” said another participant at the camp. Moreover, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir, Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, also donated blood during the camp, encouraging others to follow suit. Notably, organisers said the camp aimed to promote awareness about voluntary blood donation and honour the legacy of Mirwaiz through meaningful public service—(KNO)
