Srinagar, Jun 26 (KNO): As the monsoon season begins, the overnight rainfall in Srinagar and other parts of J&K Monday brought relief from the heatwave in the Union Territory while the weatherman has predicted erratic weather conditions till July 01. Officials told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that several parts of Kashmir as well as Jammu received light to moderate rainfall in the intervening night of Sunday-Monday and in the hours. The fresh rainfall has brought relief from the scorching heat, which continued for the past over one week. Director Meteorological department (MeT), Sonum Lotus told KNO that there is a possibility of intermittent rainfall tomorrow. “Moderate to heavy shower at some places in plains of Jammu region in morning hours is expected tomorrow," he said. Lotus further said that the intermittent light rainfall is also expected on June 28-29 while the weather would remain partly cloudy with the possibility of light rain in the evening of June 30 and July 01. Director MeT has also issued an advisory, saying that rain may lead to localised flash flood & mudslide in vulnerable spots, especially in Jammu region. The water level in rivers, streams and Nallas are is expected to rise, he said and appealed to people to remain cautious, alert during the active phase of monsoon in J&K—(KNO)
