New Criminal Laws Exhibition concludes | KNO

Srinagar, Sep 13 (KNO): The New Criminal Laws Exhibition, organized by the Economic Offences Wing (Crime Branch Kashmir) at JK Police Public School, Bemina, concluded on Saturday on a high note, bringing to a close a successful three-day initiative aimed at raising public awareness on India’s recently enacted criminal laws. The exhibition, inaugurated on September 11, 2025 by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir UT, attracted an overwhelming response from students, legal professionals, civil society members, and concerned citizens, reads a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). The key focus of the exhibition was to educate the public about the three new legislations that constitute the backbone of India’s reformed criminal justice system: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023. Over the span of three days, the exhibition welcomed approximately 9,000 visitors , with more than 5,500 attendees on the first two days and an additional 2,500 on the final day. This enthusiastic turnout highlights a growing public interest in understanding the scope and implications of the new legal framework. Designed as an interactive and informative platform, the exhibition successfully fostered legal literacy, promoted civic responsibility, and encouraged public dialogue on these vital legal reforms that aim to redefine the criminal justice landscape in India. The closing ceremony, held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, was graced by Sujit Kumar, IPS, Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch J&K, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he commended the initiative for its role in bridging the gap between law enforcement agencies and the public through active engagement and education. The Economic Offences Wing (Crime Branch Kashmir) extends its sincere gratitude to all stakeholders, participants, students, and citizens for their enthusiastic support and meaningful participation in making this exhibition a resounding success—(KNO)
