Police in Doda organise awareness programme on new criminal laws | KNO

Doda, Jul 01 (KNO): Police in Doda on Monday organised a function in which people from administration, police and general public participated to raise awareness about the implementation of the new criminal laws. From today onwards new criminal laws Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) will replace IPC, CrPC and Indian Evidence Act, respectively. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a police spokesman said that an impressive function was organised in Community Hall Doda which was attended by retired Police personnel, self help groups, local NGOs, media fraternity and large number of prominent citizens of Doda. The aim of organizing the function was to give awareness to the general public about the key features and advantages of the new criminal laws. The event was given live coverage with seamless web connectivity to facilitate the participants to interact and discuss about the advantages of new criminal laws. “In this impressive function LG UT of J&K addressed the gathering through virtual mode. Lectures were also delivered by Police officer to appraise the general public about the advantages of the new criminal laws,” it said. Similar programme/ Thana Diwas were also organized in other police stations of the District at Bhaderwah, Gandoh, Thathri and Dessa area with the aim and objective to give awareness the general public. Pertinent to mention here that FIR No. 170/2024 U/S 281/125-A BNS was the first FIR registered in Police Station Doda of District Doda under new criminal Laws—(KNO)
