Shopian, Feb 19 (KNO): Amid heavy snowfall, the Sub-District Hospital Keller in Shopian district utilised its 4x4 vehicle to transport a patient from Sangerwani in Pulwama to the hospital.
According to details obtained by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the patient was unable to reach the hospital due to heavy snow accumulation in the area. The family members contacted the hospital, which dispatched a 4x4 vehicle for assistance. The patient was successfully transported to the hospital.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Keller, Rafeeq Ahmad, informed KNO that although Sangerwani is located in the Pulwama district, the decision to bring the patient to the hospital was made on humanitarian grounds, despite the distance of approximately 20 kilometres.
“In anticipation of adverse weather conditions, all necessary arrangements had been put in place, and essential services were instructed to remain operational 24/7,” Ahmad said, adding that given the area’s susceptibility to snow blockades, the entire team is ready to address any emergency.
The BMO said ambulances are equipped with chains to ensure seamless transportation for patients during emergencies. There is also a dedicated control room at SDH Keller and people can reach out in case of any medical emergencies, he said—(KNO)
