Srinagar, Oct 30 (KNO): At least 10 students from RiSE, an educational institute, located in Srinagar have secured admissions to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology, popularly known as IITs. Joint Seat Allocation Authority, JoSAA, recently announced the allotment result for admission to engineering colleges across India including IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and other government-funded technical institutes. More than 16 students from RiSE had qualified the JEE Advanced entrance examination and out of them 10 got an admission at IITs. According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the remaining 6 made it to IIITs and NITs. The students were ecstatic on getting confirmation of the college and course they would be studying at, a day they had been eagerly waiting and preparing for over the past two years. Adnan Iqbal, Shah Emaad, Kaisar Imtiyaz, Syed Zeeshan and Sayed Shoaib secured seats at the prestigious IIT Kharagpur. Umar Iqbal and Shah Abrar were thrilled to learn that they have been allotted seats at IIT Bombay. Syed Wasiq and Salman Gulzar will be pursuing engineering at IIT BHU and IIT Dhanbad respectively. While Musaib Gani got an admission at his dream college, IIT Delhi. Salman Shahid, an IIT Kharagpur alumnus and one of the faculty members at RISE, said, “Despite the challenges of last 2-3 years our students have delivered these unprecedented results. This is a testament to their hard work, discipline and the support of their mentors and parents. We are hopeful that their juniors will take inspiration from them and scale even bigger heights when their time comes. 10 students from a single institute is a very significant event, this will not only inspire other students to crack these competitive exams but also instil a sense of confidence among Kashmiri aspirants.” Mubeen Masudi, an IIT Bombay alumnus and one of the faculty members at RiSE, said, “We started training Kashmiri kids for IITs in 2012 with the aim to increase the representation of Kashmiri students at premier institutes in IITs. Back then hardly 1-2 students qualified every 2-3 years and preparing for IITs from class 10th/11th was an alien concept. Now 10-15 students from Kashmir qualify every year. It took us 9 years to get here. In next 5 years we will have 100+ students qualifying for IITs from the valley!” “We wish these students all the best for their future endeavours, at IITs they will get exposed to a diverse and rich set of opportunities”, Mubeen added—(KNO)
