Sopore, Jul 13 (KNO): After 62-years, Sopore town marked the commemoration of the legendary mystic poet 'Rahim Sahab Sopori's anniversary with fanfare and zeal with the locals getting mesmerised with soulful beats of Sufi songs’.
The town's streets came alive with the bustling visitors with their faces reflecting the sheer excitement and reverence they hold for the mystic poet. The highlight of the event was a mesmerizing theatrical performance based on Rahim Sahab Sopori's life and poetry.
The grand event took place at Sopore's Dak Bunglow, attracting hundreds of eager listeners who were captivated by the enchanting renditions of Rahim Sahab’s writings. Famous sufi singers that include Gulzar Ahmed Ganai, Abdul Hameed Teli, Farooq Ahmed Mir, Mohammad Abdullah Shaaksaaz, Altaf Beharmpori and others graced the occasion with their mesmerizing performances.
The grand celebration was meticulously organized by a dedicated committee of literature enthusiasts and cultural connoisseurs who wanted to pay homage to the poet in the most befitting manner.
Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), one of the organizers, Shariq Maqbool said that the event was successfully held after 62-years. While acknowledging Rahim Sahab’s profound spiritual leadership, Shariq said that the intention was only to ensure that his legacy endures and continues to inspire future generations.
Meanwhile, scores of men and women from north to south made pilgrimages to the shrine of Rahim Sahab, paying their heartfelt tributes to the revered Sufi poet.
The program was jointly organized by Kashmir Gulokaar Society, Hayatun Nabi (SW) Sufiya Movement Kashmir GG Productions, in collaboration with Intizamiya Rahim Sahib Sopori (RA) shrine.
The event received support from J&K Culture Academy Art and Languages, Young Sufi Gulokaar Association Kashmir, District Administration Baramula, and Police District Sopore.
