Asha workers protest, demand hike in monthly honorarium | KNO

Ganderbal, Sep 05 (KNO): The Asha workers of different blocks in Ganderbal, on Tuesday staged a protest in Qamaria Park here to press for their demands. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the protesting Asha workers demanded a pay hike from Rs 2000 to Rs 26,000, saying that they are getting a meagre honorarium despite working with dedication. The protestors said that they have sacrificed their lives while saving thousands of people during the COVID pandemic by risking their lives. They added that, “Asha workers are being given very low honorarium, which is sheer injustice.” Furthermore, they appealed the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and district administration Ganderbal to look into the matter and ensure justice is delivered—(KNO)
